Honey bee colonies range from 30,000 and upwards of 100,000 insects. These are massive colonies and the bee hive removal is extensive work. Contrary to common belief, they can indeed be dangerous to humans and pets (even if you're "not allergic": 1,500 stings and your dead, allergic? it might only take 1 !)
We have had africanized honey bees ranging in Florida state since the 1980s and their characteristic is "swarm attacking". Please do not take on these insects on your own! Let us do the hard work for you! Bee pest control is in a category of its own...
Additionally, bees can cause structural damage - and fast - as the humidity they create by their hive regulation, can contribute to wall rot, and generally they do indeed attract many other pests by their biological processes. Such pests may include: ants, months, beetles, cockroaches, mice, wasps, hornets, other bees.
Ask your normal pest control company to "identify" for you, if you have honey bees, they will typically refer to us, certified beekeepers and bee removal professionals to deal with these extensive infestations. The standard pest control companies typically DO NOT handle honey bees themselves due to liability, legal state and federal laws, and at the end of the day specialized equipment is required and know how, to handle these colonies.
A typical structural removal is a couple day process and involved "building surgery" in which we open up the structure, fully remove over 30,000 bees with a professional bee vaccum and then scrape and clean all organic matter from the cavity. We then sterilize and make preventative treatments, and fully remodel and seal your structure (most of the time with new materials) with a 1 year warranty that the location we have operated on will be infestation free beyond the next warm season.
We then give free advice on honey bee pest control and consulting on how to defend your structure from the influx of bee colonies as prevention is the best medicine.
